Esh Property Services is one of 12 companies which form Esh Group, one of the largest construction companies based in the North East.Esh Group companies are involved in a wide range of construction and construction related activity – ranging from civil engineering to landscaping and fencing.
More recently Esh Property Services has investigated the possibility of alternative services to boost recycling rates and reduce the costs of disposal to their business.
At our recent NISP North East event, ‘Let Your Waste Work for You ‘ delegates from Esh Property Services talked to NISP about help in finding an alternative solution to their waste disposal needs. NISP then presented to the Esh Property Services Executive Board and discuss a way forward.
As part of this process NISP compiled a range of quotes from a variety of different waste management companies across the North East for both co-mingled and source segregated construction and demolition wastes. A co-mingled collection service was recommended to replace the current process, as it would prove to be more cost-effective than the current arrangement and provide more auditable records showing the destination of materials.
Alternatively, segregating the waste streams at site and recycling individually, would enable Esh Property Services to dictate more freely where their material goes and into what processes. Furthermore, this method would hopefully generate a more cost-effective solution for their waste streams and a greater knowledge of where their material ends up. This system also introduces the opportunity of intra-group recycling – closing the material flow loop within the Esh Group.
Ultimately, the long term goal is to achieve this closed loop system, seeing wastes from one arm of the group being re-used by another – Esh Group Industrial Symbiosis!
