The Decent Homes partnership with Erimus Housing involved over 3,300 properties, being brought up to the Governments Decent Homes standard by 2010. With each house demanding individual requirements.

Decent Homes works including;

• Partial rewire
• Replacing windows and external doors
• Replacing kitchen units
• Replacing bathrooms fittings
• Replacing internal doors
• Asbestos removal undertaken where necessary

Works to each property varied according to what was necessary to bring them up to the standard. The Decent Homes Fitness standard requires:

• Be free from serious disrepair
• Structurally stable
• Be free from dampness prejudicial to the health of occupants
• Have adequate provision for lighting, heating and ventilation
• Wholesome water supply
• Effective system for drainage
• Suitably located WC (for the exclusive use of the occupants)
• Have a bath, shower and wash-hand basin, with hot and cold water
• Satisfactory facilities for the preparation and cooking of food (including a sink)

Liaison
Esh Property Services have a dedicated customer care team, who establish strong relationships with residents as early as possible and give help, support, advice and guidance throughout the works. The service is tailored to suit the needs of individuals.

Works to each property varied and extra sensitivity was required to handle dissatisfaction from residents who felt they should have had more works carried out to their home.
