We have constructed for Durham Aged Mineworker’s Homes 10no two bed bungalows built to their specific design in an attractive court yard facing on to Durham Road.
Riverside North East – 39
Also included is the provision of 39 units of social rented homes all to the current HCA Design & Quality Standards of various capacities as agreed with the housing department of Durham City Council. There are 25 3 Bed houses and 14 2 Bed houses.
Delivery
Work started on site in December 2009 and to date we have handed over 10 bungalows to Durham Aged Mineworkers’ Homes and 12 houses to Riverside HA. In addition the Dunelm Homes sales centre is opened in late October and sales are encouraging at 10 units due for occupation by the end of the year. The first Climät Hus Homes has been completed and is open for viewing. A number of plots have recently been sold “under licence” to Taylor Wimpey who are starting marketing their homes by the end of November and construction on site due by Christmas.
All of the affordable homes have been completed to CSH level 3 with the next batch proposed to level 4 using timber frame construction.
This development would not have commenced without the support of the HCA which was possible due to the way that Esh Group can bring its various parts together, Dunelm Homes and Lumsden & Carroll working with Dunelm Property Services and Esh Developments to deliver this innovative development.
‘This scheme is bringing much-needed new homes to Bowburn, as well as creating local jobs and apprenticeships,’ said Bill Carr, Area Manager at the Homes and Communities Agency. ‘We have funded a range of options to help people buy or rent here, including HomeBuy Direct, which helps people to get a foot on the housing ladder in today’s market.’
The scheme has already made a positive impact on the local economy, safeguarding over 50 jobs and creating 4 apprenticeships for young people.
